Deo is a small Architects practice working out of Totnes in Devon. We design homes and extensions, sustainable retrofits, interiors, and pretty much anything else our clients ask us to.
We don’t claim to be the biggest Architects practice in the world, but we care about the things we do and have a wealth of experience working with both listed projects and contemporary homes.
Who are we?
How does the process work?
Fairly simply to be honest, first you say hello by giving us a call or sending an email. We’ll have a brief chat and then come visit you on site where we talk through all the ideas you have for your project. We then throw a whole assortment of other stuff into the mix you might not have thought about, usually with a few different approaches you might take. Then try to find a best fit route forwards to get you where you want to go within all the normal restrictions of time, budget, planning and regulations.
The service is tailored to each client, we’re happy to take you from project inception all the way through to completion if that is the level of support you need (a traditional complete package). Alternatively we can concentrate on one section of the process, broken down into planning, technical detailing or construction stages.
What sets us apart?
Models. We produce all the typical suite of drawings, schedules and reports you need to secure your planning or regulatory consents, but they always take second stage to a single unifying central model. You can explore these models yourself, and they are always there for you throughout your project.
Over the years we’ve found models communicate ideas far more effectively than any other medium and reduce costly changes in design and site errors with contractors significantly. They also allow us to measure embodied CO₂ quickly which is something we care about and keep track of.
As a side bonus, they also give us the option of some great easy visualising tools for you too, lighting design is often the most fun part for clients, and we’ve even been known to stretch to a video or two on occasion.
Whether it's a new home, a redesign of an existing house, or even a simple extension, we try to ensure each project reflects our clients unique vision and values and provide a service which ensures our clients are empowered throughout to make important key design decisions.
